What is the Charitable Check-Off Program?
The Charitable Check-off is an option given to all Oregon tax payers
as they complete their yearly returns. The Check-off gives you the
opportunity to donate to charities through your tax form, using
your refund or just sending a check. The Charitable Check-off Commission
accepts charities to be a part of this program after demonstrating
statewide support for their inclusion. This is demonstrated by capturing
10,000 signatures from registered Oregon voters.
How do you give money to causes through
the Charitable Check-Off?
Once included in the Charitable Check-off, a taxpayer refers to
a brief listing of the charity in their tax booklet and would add
their code to their tax form and amount of donation. You can use
your refund or send a check to your charity of choice.
Can I support the fight against breast
cancer through the Charitable Check-Off?
Currently, there are no options to support the fight against breast
cancer through the Charitable Check-off program. We seek to change
that with your help!
How?
This year, the Komen Foundation is seeking your support in being
added to the Charitable Check-Off campaign. We must demonstrate
support for adding the Komen Foundation to this program by turning
in 10,000 signatures from registered Oregon voters. You can
download the form
here on our website, sign it and have your friends and family sign,
then return to the Komen office (1411 SW Morrison, Suite 290. Portland,
OR 97205). We also welcome your ideas of places to gather signatures
and you may take an extra form and have your friends and family
sign and then return it to our offices. Are you involved in a race?
An event at your school, community group? A meeting? Your workplace?
All places you can collect signatures!
Why?
New sources of revenue for the Affiliate mean more mammograms, case
management, education, outreach and research in the ongoing race
to find a cure.
